On this occasion I had already sailed 47,000 nm and knew Malua front
to end and could handle any weather the Gods chose to put in our path
which they did 50 nm west of Flinders Island in Bass Strait. The
wind came out of the South faster than I had time to drop the sails and
reef and they climbed to 45 knots. Read the full account here....
Denny flew into Hobart to enjoy the cruise and the Wooden Boat Festival. Iain joined for a few days. We had a great time with all the sailors then joined the Cruising Club of Tasmania along the channel before returning to Hobart to replace the standing rigging. Have a look here...
With Malua back to full strenght we were set for the east coast and some time relaxing in the clear blue waters of Maria Island, Chinamans Bay and further north. Not many photos here...
Ok it was time to head home and again cross Bass Strait so all the
normal preparations were made and I set off with a good BOM forecast
but when did they get it right five days out? I finally made it
back to Bermagui as the sun set. Home here...
