Cruising the Pacific - The first time
I set off for New Zealand without knowing exactly which route
I would take. What eventuated was an interrupted cruise
through New Zealand then a wonderful cruise through the islands of the
Pacific.
In 2004 we undertook a Pacific Cruise to New Zealand, Tonga,
Fiji, Vanuatu and home to Bundaberg.
- Tasman Crossing
Like Bass Strait can get rough but you have to choose your crossing
time. We started on the wrong foot so had to battle through
three days of bad weather - but that just showed how good a boat Malua
really is!
- Cruising
New Zealand Great sailing ground but crowded over the summer
vacation period. There are a number of overseas cruising
yachts but the majority of vessels are cruisers from Auckland.
- ICA Rally We left NZ on a rally bound for Tonga. here we met many boats who we continued to meet in the islands.
- Tonga Great
sailing ground but crowded over the summer vacation period.
There are a number of overseas cruising yachts but the majority of
vessels are cruisers from Auckland.
- Cruising Fiji
Great sailing ground but crowded over the summer vacation
period. There are a number of overseas cruising yachts but

- Fiji
Land Holiday Great sailing ground but crowded over the summer
vacation period. There are a number of overseas cruising
yachts but the majority of vessels are cruisers from Auckland.
- Vanuatu

period. There are a number of overseas cruising yachts but

This was the last long journey home. It was done in stages so I
will attempt to write it as we go along. Issues with crew
training and compatitability caused me to focus more time on things
other than writing so I will write this some time in the future.
My blog gives a brief account so look there until the full account is
published here.
